Yes and no. Any ruler could use a little of the thinking from ';The Prince';, a smart one would not admit to it though. Machiavelli has gotten a lot of bad press.Would Machiavelli's political advice help or hurt a politician in a modern democratic society?
Machiavelli's advice is valid for all forms of political organisation.
