Don't try it, it's very unhealthy. It only works because the high meat intake causes you to eat LESS than you would normally, due to high protein levels telling your brain you're full earlier than you would be. It's true you would lose weight, but it's comparable to starving yourself without realising it.

Don't do it, it only has a short term benefit. It also give you bad breath and gas.
A diet should last the rest of your life, so find one that you can live with.
If you eat healthy food and exercise regularly and you still feel overweight, you need to speak to your doctor to confirm that you need to lose weight. Maybe you are healthy already, you don't have to conform to what the media tells you is healthy or pretty.

I have done Atkins before and lost some weight so it is effective. The only advice I would give you is try to not eat too many fatty foods. Try to stick to the lean cuts of meat, turkey, chicken, fish and every now and then have what you want. Go for the 2% cheeses also, you can't really tell the difference.

I'm confused as to how healthy a diet is supposed to be if it restricts fruits, veggies and bread. I live on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, not white which is the unhealthy kind. No meat, dairy, or eggs. At six feet, 163, I'm hardly overweight.
The secret to my ';success'; is to just eat an abundance of whole real foods with nothing artificial like corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, enriched flours, etc. If it looks fake, I don't eat it. I'm healthy and happy.
the atkins diet was said to be a really harmfull diet. there was a girl who was said to have died from doing it.
carbs are essential so in addition to high protiens , which i dont recommend you eating all of those pork chops and beef steaks etc. protiens include chicken breasts, egg whites, salmon, shrimp, seafood, sliced turkey or chicken. and ceggies like broccoli, spinach, salads (no dressing) avocado tops the list. and carbs like nuts cheese milks olive oil, oatmeal, wheat breads etc. are essential. and also pop corn tortilla chips, chocolate etc. are good low caloric healthy snacks to eat occassionally
Do your research on the web to find out about the bad effects of this diet.
Bear in mind that Mr Atkins was an overweight man - hardly good advertising - by the way - he's also dead.
This diet was slammed by most experts - so do your homework on it before you start

The best thing for you to do, is to stop trying ';diets'; and start living a more healthy lifestyle. Healthy living is the only way that you are going to loose weight and keep it off. This means a healthy diet and you guessed it... your going to have to exercise. Adkins diet is great for quick weight loss, but it has adverse side effects. You will get bad breath, constipation, and very cranky! Not to mention if you stay on this diet for a long time you will start to smell strange! One thing that you have to realize is that food is not for comfort... It is fuel that your body needs to function properly! So you can decide to put bad fuel and get bad performance, or look into eating more foods that will produce the energy that you will need. Certainly something to think about...
