He's in an e-collar, a bandage on it and I'm also giving him antibiotics. I am still very concerned and he is miserable. Please help us do some home vet care, as I'm too broke for a trip to the vets. Now days that is alike a weekend vacation for the fees they charge these days. Can dogs take tylenol, like children? My dog has wood splinters in his snout and I need some home remedies to help us; any advice? HELP..?
NO! Don't give your dog medication meant for people. Oh never never never do it. Good way to poison your dog.
THe best you can do on your own is get the splinters out and clean it with soap and a clean cloth. Then put antibacterial neosporin on it. The ecollar was a good idea, keep that on him. He is going to be in pain. I know it's costly but the second it looks like there is an infection or excessive swelling find a discount vet near you. Call the humane society; they may know of a discount vet in the area.My dog has wood splinters in his snout and I need some home remedies to help us; any advice? HELP..?
Do NOT give the dog Tylenol!! Use a warm washcloth soaked in epsom salts and have tweezers to remove the splinters. Don't give him antibiotics unless they have been prescribed. The dog may well have to be seen by a vet. That is a part of owning a pet.
tylenol can cause renal (kidney) failure in pets
do not give him any pain killers
are the splinters out now? if so put some neosporin on it (if the scratch is on the outside) and leave it alone
also dont give him any people meds
really unless something is broken the vet bill shouldnt be over 50 dollars
Hi
If there are still wood splinters in his ';snout';, he needs a trip to the Vet. Putting this off, may cost you a regular vacation, instead of a weekend trip. Do not give tylenol without a Vet's approval. You may make matters worse. Tylenol can be toxic if not used correctly. You can atleast call your Vet, and ask for recommendations. Calls are free.
Best of luck,
Rebel
