I have a close friend and last night around 1 AM his father got a DUI. He's 15 and wants advice on how to take it. I'm really clueless on what to tell him.Help giving advice to a friend whose dad got a DUI?
He should be worried about his dad's well being but shouldn't be ashamed of him at all. He should continue to live his life. His dad's DUI had nothing to do with him except that it was his dad. His life won't be ruined. He shouldn't be worried about himself but his dad.Help giving advice to a friend whose dad got a DUI?
He can help out by maintaining his responsibilities without being asked. - he may need to 'be his own dad' for a while
His dad will be going through a real tough time. the whole world is going to be dumping on him for a while. i think it's important for your friend to while understanding it was a serious mistake, to not play the 2 wrongs make a right game
I think if your friend does his best, his dad will remember it for the rest of his life
That's his Dad's DUI- not his. He can learn from it though. Don't drink and drive. His dad may be forced to go to AA meetings.... he should be supportive and go with him. His dad will get through this and it's a great learning example for him. Again, Don't drink and drive or there is the risk you'll get caught.
