Does anyone have any good advice to help me for Recruit Training in the Marine Corps?

I currently weigh 155lbs and am 5ft 8 inches, and run 2 miles in 17 minutes and 30 seconds.(I think thats slow but im workin on it) The thing I worry about is this gut i have, ive been trying to lose it. Will the Marine training help me lose it?Does anyone have any good advice to help me for Recruit Training in the Marine Corps?
2 miles in 17 minutes is pretty bad. If you aren't in shape before you go in, you might want to reconsider going into the Marines at all because recruit training will be a nightmare for you. If you still want go and have time to get in shape, i would run at least 5-6 times a week for at least 3 miles each session to start. Work on getting your running pace to at least a 7 min mile, but still you will need to go faster than that. I would also alternate speed workouts with long distance workouts to get balanced improvements. For speed workouts, go to the track and do quarter mile sprints for as fast you can for 4 times (a quarter mile is one lap around the track). Once you get better, add two more laps or combine them to challenge yourself further. Do this mondays and tuesdays and the rest of the days, just run without stopping for 3 or up to 6 miles. Don't forget to drink lots of water too and hit some weights to get your leg strength up because the conditioning marches suck.

When you go to the Marines, you need to do a fitness test that requires you to do a 3 mile run, pullups and situps. Work with the recruiter to get to where you want to be and you'll be in good shape. Still, if you can't handle or are not used to strenuous physical activity, Marines may not be for you. Best of luck though.Does anyone have any good advice to help me for Recruit Training in the Marine Corps?
Trust me, they'll take you, break you down, then rebuild you. all you have to do is have trust and heart. THey'll take care of the gut.

It should. You'll be doing a lot of physical activities. Your diet will also be controlled. No snacks, no sodas. Just good Marine Corps food. When I came out of boot camp I was in the best physical and mental condition I have ever been in.

Yes, you won't have any gut left for sure! Good advice? Do not get discouraged when things get tough. You already have more courage than a lot of Americans. Semper Fi!
pump the wieghts!
Keep the mouth shut and your eyes and ears open. And remember it can always get worse, stay motivated.
practice push ups and physical training. A good exercise to strengthen your upper shoulders and arms is simply holding your harms straight out to the side until you can do it for at least twenty minutes. You have to keep them level to your shoulders. If you can do push ups you can do almost anything. That is why they are so important.

Running everyday. should try to get at least 2 miles 17min or less. Do anything that works on your endurance level and you will have it much easier
Yes, but its gonna be horrible. If you cant pass the initial PT test they will hold you back in training until you can pass. Try do crunches and then oblique crunches (where you only lift up with ones side). Those really seemed to help me. Good luck.
How long til you ship out? You can try doing sprint workouts on your local HS track ( run 100yds , jog 100 yds). By building your endurance that way you can get your run time down. You'll lose the gut, no doubt, but if you want to be strong going in work on your abs daily(crunches, leg raises, hello dollies, flutter kicks). Remember that poster on the recruiters wall ';Pain is weakness leaving the body';.
well courage is the answer.

if yu have a courage to fight the wort,

you can do it ';just do it';. ('EKIN' revers it)

soldier if you have the courage then fight back from wort!!

move it! move it! move it!
When I jioned the army my recruiter came out every day and trained with a group of us to help us get ready for basic training. he die it for about 3 weeks before we shipped out. You might want to contact your recruiter and ask for help. They are usually eager to help to make sure that you show up on the day you need to ship out.
You'll lose it.

Keep you mouth shut and RUN.
run! keep your mouth shut. do as your told
