I'm thinking about starting a home business....need advice/help please!?

I am a stay at home mom living in a Caribbean island that's currently in an economic boom. I make fantastic cheesecakes (at least so I'm told)...and everyone is telling me I should start making them to sell to the restaurants, hotels and so on. Other than doing my homework on how much capital I will need for kitchen/cooking supplies and the basic cost for each cheesecake plus my mark-up, is there anything else I should be doing? Any tips would be helpful...thanks!I'm thinking about starting a home business....need advice/help please!?
Find out what the local health codes are for your area. Are there any permits you will need to run a business out of your home...ie zoned residential vs business?... Have you thought of a name for your company and do you have a tax ID #





Have you figured out what price you will sell them for including the delivery price? ie, containers, gas, maintenance costs on vehicle..etc. Also figuring the utility costs/cake and the clean-up supplies....





Do you have a marketing / advertising budget?..ie flyers, cost of samples and sales costs like telephone, contact books, yellow pages and/or restaurant/hotel guides?...etc.





Do you have any bookkeeping experience to keep track of your company expenses or will you need to hire someone for that task?





If you have a small business organization, like we have the Small Business Administration, ask them for any assistance they can give...ie.. information or small business loans...etc.
