I worked there when I was younger, there is a lot of cashiering to do so tell them your good with money, and stocking the coolers is a must, making coffee and cleaning are good qualities to have, along with good customer skills.
During your volunteering did you take any leadership roles, work in a team, work with different people, use those skills to sell yourself, good luck
Essential Resume %26amp; Interview Tips for Success
Having a really great resume is just the start of your job search. A resume is a flyer to get you inside the front door of a potential hiring manager. It does not have to be your entire life story, listing every job since graduation from high school.
In modern times, you can go back as little as five or ten years, showcasing your accomplishments, talents, knowledge, skills and abilities. With this type of resume, you can focus on your strengths in order to get yourself a seat in front of the decision maker.
Having a professional resume in chronological order, with four or five bullets of detail for each position, will make the difference. Make sure the dates cover gaps, and be ready to explain in more detail the accomplishments of your work history. At a minimum have your resume, proofread by someone, but even better is to have a professional resume service prepare your resume, coverletter and any other employment documents. It is amazing the number of resumes that come in with grammatical and spelling errors that kill off the opportunity to get oneself in front of inteviewer.
What really matters, is having a great interview. While in the interview, make sure that the interviewer is having their questions answered. One way to do this is to follow-up your responses to their questions, with closed-ended questions. For example, you answer their question by giving them an example, and then ask ';Did that answer your question?'; or ';Would you like me to elaborate any further?' By using closed-ended questions and tying down the interviewer, you know they agree your examples are sufficient, is the first step in creating agreement that you are right candidate for the position.
Most importantly, at the end of the interview, look the interviewer in the eye, reach your hand out and tell the interviewer you want the position, you are the right person for the job, and ask them ';What is the next step in the process?'; Before you leave, make sure to get a business card of the interviewer and at the soonest oppportunity write a thank you e-mail, indicating your excitement and level of interest regarding the position.
Remember to dress for success. First impressions are priceless. You cannot undo a bad first impression. Men should wear suits or slacks with a shirt and tie and sports jacket. Women should wear a dress, suit, or pants with a blouse. Don't smoke immediately before any interview or wear too much cologne or perfume.
Also, come prepared. Have extra copies of your resume prepared on a quality resume paper. Presenting them in resume folders is an excellent way to showcase your attention to details. Have a list of recent references. But only give them out if it is definitely a position you want to pursue. References make all the difference in securing a position, so you do not want to wear them out with receiving too many inquiries. Also, make sure at least one of your references is a raving fan, who will sell you well to get the position.
Additionally, have the information ready to completely fill out any job applications. Have your own list of questions prepared, so when the interviewer asks ';Do you have any questions?'; you have a list to choose from of appropriate responses. Do your homework on the company. Be sure you have checked out the company's website. Review the management staff and the company's products. All of these steps will add to your confidence during the interview process and give you information to confirm your own level of interest in the company.
Don't forget the basics, be early and allow for plenty of time, should there be any delays on the company's side. Dont' be in a hurry to leave. It is a good idea to drive to the building the day before, so as to know the perfect route and approximate time it takes to get there and know exactly where the building, parking and entrance are.
